Hoffman's Toys is a TX poodle breeder of registered toy, tiny toy, and teacup poodle puppies. We are located convenient to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in TX. We love the red poodles, vibrant in color, but also have browns, blacks, creams, apricots, and others. We have added parti poodles to our breeding program and occasionally have phantom poodles. We produce some of the most beautiful red poodles around. Please remember when looking for a poodle puppy, toys and tiny toy Poodles are more suitable for families with children than getting a small teacup. Teacup poodles are very fragile due to their small size. Also there is only a small amount of difference in size between a teacup poodle and tiny toy poodle. Most of our puppies are 3.5 to 9#s grown. Think about the size that is suitable for you whether it's a toy, tiny toy, or teacup poodle.

Our website is always up to date on what is currently available. We post a birth announcement on the nursery page to let you know when a litter is born.  We post photos of puppies when we have some available noting if one is already reserved.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THE PUPPY YOU CHOOSE IS THE ONE YOU WANT!   If we have to repost a puppy, it makes other potential buyers think something is wrong with a puppy.  We do not alter the color of any puppy's photos.  The nursery photos are taken with an iphone & sent to a PC.  They are shown as close as possible to the real thing.  Remember that colors appear different on computers depending on the settings.

We no longer ship our puppies, so please keep this in mind when considering buying a puppy from us. This is due to more USDA regulations protecting buyers from being taken advantage of when buying online. Texas buyers need to pay 6.75% tax in addition to the price of the puppy.  All of our puppies are registered with AKC & our inspection is up to date at this time.

We are sure you will see one of our babies that you just can't resist whether it's the red poodles, parti poodles, phantom poodles or another color. We have been breeding since 1999 and take great pride in our puppies. We can't resist whether it's the red poodles, parti poodles, phantom poodles or another color. Hoffman's Toy Poodles are very legitimate and work hard to produce good quality puppies. There are scams online so beware of who you purchase your puppy from. Hoffman's Toys will be happy to answer any questions you may have or just chat about our poos.....

About us: We have been breeding since 1999 and Toy Poodles are our only breed of dogs. We do not mix them with other breeds nor do we do stud service or loan them out.  All of our males are DNA'd with AKC and our puppies are always AKC registered. We are located in TX just north of Ft. Worth, west of Dallas, south of Denton and are about 8 miles from the Texas Motor Speedway.

Picking Up Your Puppy : We ask that you contact us or be flexible in scheduling a time for picking up your new puppy.  If we have several puppies in a litter sometimes it's hard to meet everyone's ideal time for getting it.  We prefer to schedule pick-up times from 2pm-5pm on the weekend allowing us time to get your puppy freshly groomed/bathed.  Sometimes during the week is possible but not hours after 5pm.

Payments: We accept deposits in the form of a personal check if time is allowed for it to clear.  WE NO LONGER TAKE PAYPAL OR CREDIT CARDS.  Deposits are $300 and will hold your puppy until it is ready to go home with you.  Please make sure & send to us using Priority Mail and furnish us with the tracking number.  If this isn't done, then the puppy will not be held for you.  Whomever gets a deposit to us first is the person the puppy is held for.  If circumstances prevent you from picking up your puppy when it's ready, and a time can't be agreed upon, then add'l charges of $10 a day is added to the balance due.  Balances are only accepted in cash, cashier's check or money order. Cashier checks or money orders should be payable Sharon Hoffman NOT Hoffman's Toys as we do not have a DBA account.

Shipping: We no longer ship puppies alone via air. The reason we don't ship our puppies is because of more laws passed by USDA. I can no longer even have someone bring you your puppy. So they must be picked up from us or if possible, we can bring them to you at an agreed meeting place (within a reasonable distance) if you live away from the DFW area.

About puppies: Puppies are wormed at 2, 4, 6 & again at 9 wks. if they are still here with us. Vaccinations are started at 7 wks. then given at 10, 13 wks. if they are still here. We do not start them with potty training. We have almost 3 acres with neighborhood dogs that sometimes come into our yard. They aren't taken outside for this reason....we cannot control what they are exposed to if taken outside. They are all sold with limited registration meaning that no breeding rights are given. Puppies are kept until they are at least 8 wks. of age. We do not rush our moms to wean them so the longer the mom allows them to nurse, the healthier we believe they will be.

To use the weight chart, find the age of your puppy. Go across to the weight that it is currently weighing, then go down to the bottom and this is the estimated weight as an adult. Please remember that this is just an approximation not a guarantee in size. Many factors such as type of food, amount of food, how much exercise, etc. that your puppy gets can increase or decrease his/her size.

Most breeders just use this chart for weight even though toys size poodles are 10"s and under, miniature poodles are up to 15"s and standards are over 15"s.

Please note that some colors are harder to "downsize or get shorter in height" like the reds, silvers, and occasionally blacks or browns. That is why some reds will go to 10.5 to 11"s but only weigh 5-7#s.

So if you are looking for a red or dark apricot please remember that they are prone to having taller legs with refined bones and smaller bodies.

We do not have set prices on our puppies.  Until a puppy is born & we post that we are taking a deposit on them, their sizes can change. Our prices start at $1750 which would be for a toy size male in 8-10# range in a more common color like Black, Cream, or White.  Partis, Reds & Browns are more expensive.  With everything increasing in price, we too have had to raise our prices.  Determining factors are vet visits, food, vaccination injections, supplies and also the price to register a litter.  Please understand that we are usually less expensive than other breeders...it takes a lot to raise healthy socialized puppies.

Puppies are generally ready to leave at 8-9 wks. of age.  This depends on their growth & how well they are eating dry kibble.  If they are projected to be a smaller puppy, they could be estimated to leave after 12 wks. of age.
Yes we have references from many buyers & can furnish them upon request but they are also available online.

Teacup Info image
Teacup or small size puppies need extra care and nurturing. They eat special diets and must eat every 2 to 4 hours because they have small tummies and can't hold much food. Since they do not eat much at a time, they must be crated or confined in a small area (4x4) most of the time until they are 6 to 8 months old to conserve their energy and give them a chance to grow up.  We recommend 30 minutes to an hour of playing or being held and loved on then 2 to 3 hours of uninterrupted rest and sleeping time.  Their food and water must be available to them at all times so that they can eat, drink and potty as their body needs to.  They cannot sleep with you at night until they are older and can go over 6 hours without eating.  Eating regularly day and night is critical for a tiny size dog until they are grown. Adhering strictly to this routine for playtime and rest time is a must for a tiny dog.  Once mature, they are usually sturdy and healthy just like larger size dogs.

If you are a person with a busy schedule (away from home over 8 hrs. at a time), you may not be a candidate for a teacup size puppy. If you have someone who can check on it every few hours for you to see that it is eating and drinking as well as moving about normally you may do fine with it, but without some help, the puppy may not do well for you. Hypoglycemia attacks can occur without warning and if not attended to quickly, without proper support, the puppy could die. Once they mature at 6 to 8 months of age, this is usually not an issue, but it is or can be an issue until the puppy matures. A lot of careful consideration and planning must go into the decision to purchase a teacup size puppy. They are not suitable for households with other pets to contend with, small children, and very busy lifestyles. They are much like raising a premature baby. Proper diet, lots of rest/quiet time, and not too much outside stimulation until they are about 6 to 8 months old. We cannot stress this enough...they need an area no larger than 4x4 to spend most of their time during the growing up period. Too much area to roam in, will entice them to do more than they should and can lead to life threatening episodes of hypoglycemia.

Because of these issues, we try to screen prospective purchasers to make sure the tiny size puppies are being placed in the right kind of homes for them to be taken care of properly so that they will thrive and do well for the new owner. We do the same for all of our puppies, but it is more critical with a teacup or tiny size ones. Our tiny sized puppies are not released to the new homes until they are over 12 weeks old. We keep them until we believe they have enough age and size to be resistant to the attacks of hypoglycemia. We also make sure they are eating well and are able to play actively without any problems before we allow them to leave. They will come to you with detailed instructions for their care, diet, recommended activity and anything else we think you will need to know to care for them properly. It will be up to you to go by our advice in order to finish raising your teacup puppy.

With a teacup size dog, the training to go potty outside may have to wait for warmer weather. Be prepared to fix them a place inside for bathroom time when the weather is cold, rainy or bad. They will take cold just like any other pet that is not used to environmental changes and this can cause illness. Newspaper, potty pads or litter boxes made for dogs are a good substitute to train them to if you live in a bad climate. This can be placed in the confined area they live in and they will learn to use it. They will train quickly to whichever method you choose.

By following our instructions regarding the teacup or tiny size puppy, you should have years of enjoyment and love from your new little pet.

                           Hypoglycemia  (Low Blood Sugar)

What to do and how to prevent it...........

This is a central nervous system disorder caused by low blood sugar. It mainly occurs
in Toy breeds between six and twelve weeks of age. However, the problem should
become resolved as a pup matures (usually anywhere from three to six months of age).

The first signs are listlessness and depression. They are followed by muscular
weakness, vomiting or diarrhea, and/or tremors (especially in the facial muscles), and
later convulsions, coma and death. The entire sequence is not always seen. The dog
may simply appear to be depressed, or it may be weak, wobbly, and jerky; or it may be
found in a coma.

Hypoglycemia can occur without warning when a puppy is placed in a new home or
while being shipped. It might appear after a puppy misses a meal, chills, becomes
exhausted from too much playing, or has a digestive upset. These place an added
strain on the energy reserves of the liver and bring on symptoms, if the dog is susceptible.

Puppies who are weaned on rice and hamburger are more likely to develop hypoglycemia.
Their diet is deficient in certain ingredients needed to sustain the liver.

TREATMENT: Treatment is directed at restoring blood levels of glucose. Begin at once.
Prolonged or repeated attacks can cause permanent damage to the brain. If the puppy
is awake, give it white karo syrup 1/2 to 1 tsp. every 2 hours or sugar in water by mouth.
Nutracal, a nutritional supplement, is also something good to keep on hand. He will begin
to improve within 30 minutes. When he is unconscious, he will have to be given a
Dextrose solution intravenously. This may be necessary to treat for swelling of the brain.
A veterinarian should be called at once, regardless if the puppy is awake or unconscious.

Prevent recurrent attacks by feeding a high quality dry food diet such as Eukanuba Small Bites
Puppy or Diamond Natural Small Breed Puppy and adding sugar or white Karo syrup to your
puppy's water on a daily basis. See that the puppy eats at least every 4 hours and receives a
daily vitamin. Owners of toy puppies should not overtire them or allow them to chill. Playtime
should be very controlled and limited to prevent undue stress or tiring Hypoglycemia must be
offset by frequent feedings. A puppy that does not eat frequently, for whatever the reason, is
headed for serious trouble.
